I have extensive experience of developmental editing, both shorter works (short stories, chapters) and full novels. I like reading most genres, and I mostly edit pieces which are character driven with a strong narrative voice, including commercial fiction and YA manuscripts. But I also love a good plot, mysteries, gothic and fairy tales.

 

How does it work?

Depending on the length of work we will agree on the timeframe for the edit before you send it to me. You can request up to three areas you wish me to look at in particular. Once I have read your submission I will: 

• produce detailed notes on your manuscript (a minimum of 2 pages for a full manuscript), including areas that need developing and suggestions for rewrites;

• provide comments embedded into the text, where necessary, to illustrate areas in need of further work;

• answer up to ten follow-up questions, via email, on anything you want further clarity on once the edit is completed;

• an optional 30 minute Zoom call is also available at an additional cost.
